How to Care for Your Truffles
STEP 1
Your truffle has arrived!
Before you get too excited, lets go over a few
important details to make sure it stays in top shape until you are ready to indulge.
First things first—let it breath. Remove it from the original packaging. It’s
porous after all and will need some air.
STEP 2
Open the jar and remove the truffle from the rice.
You can now remove the rice from the jar.
(Don’t be so quick to toss the rice—it is now truffle infused after all)
STEP 3
Use a clean and dry paper towel to wrap the truffle—this paper towel will need to be changed daily until you are ready to consume the truffle (up to 3 days). If stored properly you can expect white truffles to last no more than 3-4 days. Black truffles will last slightly longer – around 5-6 days after received.
STEP 4
Once the truffle is wrapped – you can return it
to the jar and seal.
STEP 5
The truffle should remain stored in the sealed glass jar in a low-moisture region of your refrigerator
(produce drawers work great!)
STEP 6
Black truffles work wonderfully heated or served as a garnish.
You will often see them thinly sliced using a truffle slicer or mandolin. They can also be finely grated using a microplane. White truffles do not react well to extended heat and they are best thinly sliced and
garnished on a dish Bon appétit!
