Inside the leathery red shell is a grape-like fruit the size of a big cherry. The translucent white pulp is wrapped around a large, shiny, mahogany brown seed. Lychee meat tastes like a tropical mix of muscat grape with a touch of cherry or plum and a fragrance that smells like a rose garden in spring.
