More About This Product

Pawpaw, Asimina triloba. The largest indigenous American fruit tree, growing wild in thickets in the eastern United States. The flavor is a cross between a banana and mango and is the only member of its family that is not tropical. Meadows and More expertly picks them when they are large and there is a better proportion of flesh than seed. Keep cool; they will ripen at room temperature. Note: the pawpaw flesh is full of vitamins and antioxidants but the skin and seeds may contain phytochemicals which some individuals are allergic to. Caution to remove skin and seeds. Preparation: Great in ice cream, sorbet, baked goods, as a coulis, or raw if carefully peeled and sliced with a dash of lime juice.
