At Baldor, we maintain the highest standards for the fresh pork, beef, and poultry we carry—and we put the same amount of care into our bacon program, too. We only carry brands that we know you’ll feel good about using in your dishes and featuring on your menus. The four purveyors below make thoughtfully crafted products, with flavor and animal welfare top of mind. And all the selections are Question 3 compliant.
This local brand, founded in 1893, sources their hogs from farmers who support humane animal welfare, ethical practices, and transparency.
The former sources their raw pork from Les Viandes du Breton in Canada; the latter’s crossbred hogs come from carefully vetted, domestic farms. Both have been awarded humane-treatment certifications and produce bacon that is ABF.
This uncured bacon—with no antibiotics, water solutions, or added nitrates/nitrites—is from heritage-breed pigs that are raised crate-free on 100% vegetarian diets. The pork bellies are dry rubbed with freshly ground spices, then smoked over cherrywood.
