More About This Product

Autumn olive berries, Eleagnus umbellata. From Asia originally, invasive in the wild. The tree is not an olive but the leaves have silver backs resembling an olive tree leaf. The ruby red berries may have small silver dots, and it is sometimes referred to as Japanese silverberry. Not for eating raw by hand as it is sweet-tart, but works well as a pickle, a coulis, ferment, jam or spread.
