Cherries Are Loading

Cherries Are Loading

The first cherries of the season are arriving from California. We’ve got 10.5 Coral cherries, as well as limited amounts of Rainiers and Early Glenns.

Romaine Still Struggling

Romaine Still Struggling

Romaine and romaine hearts grown in Salinas Valley are being impacted by anthracnose, a soil-born fungal disease exacerbated by cool, damp weather. When it rains, the splashing water transfers the disease from the soil to the plants. Our CA farm partners are estimating lower yields and poor quality for another 2 to 3 weeks.

Choke Supply Improving

Choke Supply Improving

After almost six weeks of being short on baby and small artichokes, supplies are slowly turning the corner as field transitions are completed. There are plenty of large loose chokes in the meantime.

Organic Celery Sparse

Organic Celery Sparse

Demand is still exceeding supply of organic celery. The cold and rainy weather in California in early spring caused blight and planting gaps, which has resulted in supply issues now. Supplies will likely remain limited until June.

Low on Baby Kale & Arugula

There’s low stock on organic baby kale and baby arugula from California. Again, rain and cloudy weather is yielding not-so-robust greens, and the quality is suffering further during the travel time to the East coast. Arrivals are being rejected at the warehouse right now, but we should see better shipments in a couple of weeks.
