The single layer Dapple Phoenix pluots from Kingsburg Orchards have a pretty mottled red exterior and pink-red meat inside. Perfect for eating out of hand, these large pluots are also great peeled and stewed with a split vanilla bean, a slice of ginger, and few lemon verbena leaves and pinch of cinammon. When soft and collapsing, remove the bean pod, ginger and verbena leaf and spoon over fresh ricotta or vanilla ice cream to celebrate "pluot-a-rama" season.
