Meet the Bloody Mary’s Long Lost Cousin

This drink was invented in a Parisian bar in the 1920s and cocktail nerds agree that it predates the Bloody Mary.  Legend has it that epic drinker Ernest Hemingway was a fan.  Yet, the cocktail seems to have fallen into obscurity. We like ours with Natalie’s Orchid Island Juices because we are too lazy to squeeze our own and theirs is as close as it gets to the genuine article.

 

THE RED SNAPPER

 

Makes one cocktail

 

2 oz. Gin

2 oz. Natalie’s Orchid Island Beet Orange juice

2 oz. Natalie’s Orchid Island Tomato juice

1 oz. Lemon juice

1oz. Simple syrup

Salt and pepper to taste

Tabasco to taste

 

Instructions

Add all ingredients into cocktail shaker. S h a k e. Rim cocktail glass with spiced salt. Pour into a pint glass over ice.
