Meet Mann Packing

Baldor Editors Sep 11 , 2017

In the late 1930’s, when the United States was beginning to recover from the Great Depression, a young Stanford graduate came to California’s Salinas Valley seeking employment.  What began as a trimming fruit & lettuce stand at 40 cents an hour in the late 1930’s has grown into one of the country’s leading suppliers of fresh vegetables. Mann Pack has spanned three generations and is proud to be a majority women owned and operated business. Since 2012, they have carried the distinguished certification by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the most respected recognition in the United States for women’s business enterprises.

Similar to Baldor, Mann’s sustainability actions to protecting our environment and valuable resources continues to be top of mind throughout all of our operations. .At their facilities, 90% of the waste water are recycled. Impressively, the electrical usage at the Salinas plant is the same as it was in 2001 despite a 50% increase in capacity. All of their corrugate and plastic packaging is recycled. Mann Packing is currently a zero packaging waste facility.

The fresh veggies’ appearance on your dinner table is the culmination of a lot of hard work and a careful balancing act between both natural and technological environments. It’s a long journey from farm to table and we constantly focus on innovation to keep the veggies which arrive to Baldor fresh. Some of our favorite Mann Products are the Arcadian Harvest Mix and the Better Burger leaf.

The company continues to operate with the same honesty and integrity that it did 78 years.
