Ipex Ipex is the branch of Baldor responsible for international procurement. It consists of a team of multilingual buyers who contact independent farmers all over the world and consign them to grow specifically for us. Our Ipex team speaks with farmers in countries like France, Italy, Central and South America every day of the week. Ipex will often contract a farm's entire harvest.
Purchasing directly from the farmer affords us countless benefits:
We achieve direct access to an array of produce not seasonably available in the U.S. By eliminating middlemen such as importers and distributors we end up with better quality produce and much better pricing.
By consulting directly with the farmer himself, Ipex has some say in growing and packaging techniques and can learn about weather conditions and impending market fluctuations firsthand.
In their endless quest for better quality control and lower shipping costs, Ipex is now moving into the arena of seed procurement. They are buying seeds from all over the world and offering them to North American farmers located in microclimates similar to that of the seed source. In doing so, they are trying to cultivate specific off-shore crops closer to our base of operations in New York. This would reduce transportations costs, extend shelf life and make available in this country products that are currently not permitted for import by the FDA.
Ipex is committed to ensuring that customers have a steady, affordable, year-round supply of whatever produce they desire. The world today is a vast global marketplace and Ipex helps brings those markets to your door. |

 Sabatino Truffles
Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc is proud to announce we have joined forces with the world's greatest producer and distributor of fresh truffles and truffle products, Sabatino Tartufi.
Founded in Southern Umbria in 1911, Sabatino Truffles first made a name for themselves by becoming the most successful excavators of fresh white and black truffles. By cultivating a harmonious relationship between the truffle hunters, their trained dogs and the countryside they foraged, the company succeeded by respecting industry regulations, tradition and their fertile landscape.
Today Sabatino Truffles is a large agricultural company with vast properties in Umbria, a modern production laboratory using the most innovative technology and a wide distribution network. All this enables them to capture the most perfect truffle essence in a jar or bottle and deliver them promptly at their peak of aroma and flavor.
Baldor delivers these fragrant products to you expediently and handle them with the same efficiency and care given to all our specialty produce. |

Hunts Point Cold Storage and Logistics This is a division under the Baldor umbrella that was created to utilize the vast amount of refrigerated storage space we have. Because we have the capacity to purchase and store full containers (approx. 3, 648 pallets) of Belgian endive, for example, we can sell it at a very competitive price. We purchase and distribute this endive through Hunts Point Cold Storage and Logistics and filter it throughout the tri-state area at great savings to retail customers.
Hunt's Point Cold Storage and Logistics also offers storage service to customers who don't have storage space of their own. We will pick up and store volumes of their produce for a fee. Even the Hunts Point Market uses this Baldor service from time to time. |
